Let’s examine how the liberal media is covering Tim Walz, the man interviewing for the country’s (and arguably the world’s) second most important job. Here’s a brief overview: “a straight, white guy from the Midwest”; “Coach Walz”; “wholesome, happy warrior persona”; “aggressively ‘normal’”; “America’s dad, football coach, and teacher who’s cool without trying”; “pretty bald”; “Midwestern Democrat who enjoys joking around”; “Fun Midwestern Dad”; “He ice fishes, hunts, and does butter carving.”
The media’s primary role in our democracy is to provide the
public with the information needed to make informed choices about who leads our
country. Yet, this is the kind of reporting we receive.
Imagine you’re hiring a financial advisor and are told to
trust someone with your life savings because they’re a former football coach
and pheasant hunter. Or consider choosing a surgeon for your child and being
told that the surgeon has a charming Midwestern charm.
It’s disheartening that many people vote for politicians
based on whether they’d enjoy having a beer with them, a criterion you wouldn’t
use to hire a plumber.
